Not much changed for him.

With less than two weeks of practice he again entered the Arlington Submission Challenge (8/2013) for both the teen under 145# and Adult under 155#.  Both divisions were “Advanced”.  He came in at 141# with no dieting before hand, he was definitely smaller come match time.

15-20 pounds light in this match he was in a bad position 4 of the 5 minutes of this match.  Coach Charlie said to “figure out something” and apparently he did.

The highlight was that he won both divisions!

The sad point is that the submission season was over within a month as his main focus is developing his wrestling skills and club team was starting up again.

It was likely a bit more helpful to have his coach there to encourage and advise rather than just his dad.  Thanks Charlie Pearson

Following are the three matches for his bracket.  From last to the first.

Championship Match

2nd Match (against teammate Mike)

Great job overall Noah…

Marathon Grappling Match – The final 8 minutes… Championship
Under 135lb

I was going to toss in the first 16 minutes of this match and while there was some good grappling from both Noah and Adaues, but I’ll grandma’s and grandpas I’ll save you from the extended version.  Maybe I’ll add an earlier match another time. :-)

Revolution August 2011

The revolution tournament was overall large in size, but the number in the youth brackets was limited.  Not quite the same as the ASC grappling tournament where there were fewer competitors overall, but more teens.  Hoping for more competition in the future or thinking further travel may be necessary.

None the less, Noah did well winning his first match by guillotine and second by howdy…. That’s all it took in a tiny bracket of teens just under 120lbs. Airik made it tough just like every time he and Noah meet up.

And now for the “championship” match

ASC in September, then what?  Any ideas?

Early Beginnings Flash Back

June 25th 2011 at the Arlington Submission Classic, sponsored by Arlington Kickboxing Academy, Noah won four straight matches (triangle, points, key lock, and arm bar) and the teen division title… Nice work.

I learned of this from my favorite MMA site, http://lockflow.com. It’s worth sitting through the full 15 minute breakdown.
